After years of doing and promoting microbiome research in soils and plants, MiCRop is very excited to see that microbiome research is now being taken to a whole new level. After a long period of hard work, also by MiCRop’s Harro Bouwmeester, Age Smilde, Corne Pieterse and Anna Heintz-Busschart and with support of Helen Bergman, last week the Holomicrobiome Innovation Institute was launched in the Artis Planetarium. A vast interdisciplinary institute with the mission of creating real world impact in water, soil, plants, animals and humans, with the help of the microbiome. To shed some light on the plant and soil side of microbiome research, MiCRop consortium member Roeland Berendsen gave an inspiring talk.
With the Holomicrobiome Innovation Institute focussing on microbiome research across the different domains, we're hopeful that the community we have helped build in MiCRop will expand further. Together, we will make sure more people will see the power of the microbiome and how it can be employed for a more healthy and sustainable future!
