MiCRop consortium member Dr. Roeland Berendsen has been awarded a prestigious Vici grant by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), providing up to 1.5 million euros to advance his groundbreaking research on microbiome-based strategies for crop resilience. Within MiCRop, Roeland’s work focuses on the recruitment of microbes by plants in response do disease, aiming to reduce chemical inputs while maintaining high yields, a key step toward more sustainable and climate-adaptive agriculture.
