On the 10th of February, Justin Stewart succesfully defended his PhD titled Mapping Plant Microbe Symbiosis Across Spatial Scales. Combining robotics, microscopy, DNA sequencing, greenhouse and global field sampling, satellite data and remote sensing, he succesfully created the first ever global maps of mycorrhizal diversity patterns. One of the most ancient and important plant symbionts, yet also very understudied.
He will continue his important work in mapping global microbial diversity patterns at SPUN. Congratulations Justin and good luck with your future research!
