On 2 October 2026, the Graduate School EPS organises its Theme 2 Symposium on interactions between plants and biotic agents, combined with the Willie Commelin Scholten day. Junior and senior researchers will present work on pathogen virulence, plant resistance and susceptibility, multitrophic interactions, and how plants balance defence with beneficial relationships — including microbes, pollinators, and natural enemies of pests.

The symposium takes place at Science Park, Amsterdam, from 09:00 to 17:30. Attendance is free for EPS members; non-members pay €75.

EPS PhD candidates and postdocs are invited to present their research. Submit a short summary (3–5 sentences) to the organising committee to apply for a presentation slot.
